Staying at Casa do Rio is an experience worth making the trip to the Douro valley. Maria the owner will make you feel like a part of her family and provide great recommendations for local activities.

OMGGGG this is it. This is where you wanna stop for your road trip. A must stay visit in middle of Douro river. Maria is top notch host and a great soul. Her place has everything travelers need. I am not going to spoil the details of her place but she hand crafted the place and did a 5 star accommodation. Apart from hosting and her place, She is the best host you can imagine. Shares every detail about the region with great suggestions. This is a must stop in your north trip. Apart from her place. I would recommend to leave your car in Mosteiró train station and take a day train to Douro valley for a round trip journey(takes 4-5 hours) or stay in Douro and come back later for your car! Train trip definitely worth.

honestly, this is one of the most beautiful places I've visited in a long, long time. if you're looking for tranquility, and you want that peace within a safe environment, this is the ideal spot. plus, the river nearby is incredibly calming. the lady who owns the place is so attentive and genuinely prioritizes your happiness. she's constantly delighting you with little surprises, making sure you have a wonderful experience. they also have two incredibly sweet dogs – it's a perfectly dog-friendly place. they even walked us right to the door when we left! everything was flawless, just everything. we were so incredibly pleased with our stay.

If you’re thinking about saving this place, don’t — just book it. The photos don’t do it justice! Maria and José are the kindest, most attentive, and generous hosts we’ve ever met, and their Quinta is simply breathtaking. You stay right by the water, with kayaks, bikes, pizza dough for the oven, and even their dogs keeping you company. They’re just genuinely happy that you’re there. If you’re lucky enough to find this gem, don’t hesitate — every five-star review is absolutely true. We only stayed two days but will definitely be back (and with friends!). This isn’t a place you can design; it’s something that’s grown over time. Experiencing it as a guest is truly special. Obrigado!

Our stay at Casa do Rio was utterly magical in every way. Lordes is the best hostess ever, no exaggeration. At every turn, she went above and beyond to make our stay as amazing as possible. Casa do Rio is the perfect gem in Douro valley, - it has everything you need to have a quite stay by the River. We celebrated my moms birthday in this beautiful house. Maria is an amazing host, she baked us a cake and together we made pizza with fresh vegetables from her garden. We are grateful for this unique experience We will be back again

Where do I even start?! Staying at Maria's Casa do Rio felt like a magical home away from home. Maria and her sweet dogs gave us a warm welcome when we arrived and gave us a beautiful tour of the property with an overview of its history that you should not miss. She was very accommodating to our check-in time and sensitive to our plans during our stay, which were not many. Since we didn't have much planned for our spur-of-the-moment visit, we were delighted when Maria gave us many suggestions of activities on our own as well as ones with her such as a tour around the area, canoeing, hiking, yoga class, massage, cooking together and so much more. The charm and kind embrace by Maria was otherworldly and an experience in itself that we won't ever forget. If you have any reservations on booking your stay here, you shouldn't because you will not regret a single second at Casa do Rio. Every moment during our stay here is one we will treasure, and we'll be back to visit Maria and her Casa.
